It’s Not Over

Have you faced something so impossible, so negative and tragic, that you can’t imagine things ever getting better? I’m coming to terms with a long-term challenge right now. Besides scripture, quotes a phrase that helped me mentally during stage 4 was, “It’s not over ’till it’s over.” It’s a declaration of hope that doesn’t have to stretch too far. It means that as long as you’re still alive, things can change, and God can work a miracle. If we don’t have faith in a miracle, we can start with baby steps and believe that it’s not over yet.

24 Immediately the father of the child cried out[a] and said, “I believe; help my unbelief!”

Mark 4:24

Don’t Have Faith?

In the gospel of Mark, chapter 9, a father came to Jesus and to ask for healing for his son. No desperation on earth can match that of a parent wanting to help their sick child. The man’s son was in a tragic state and they’d been dealing with it for most of his years. Some issues are so embedded and are so much a part of our lives that we can’t imagine being free. The longer we live with it, we have to learn to cope and it becomes part of our lives. Our gracious God meets us where we are. We don’t have to have great faith but only reach out to the one who is great. We, like the father in Mark chapter four, can ask Jesus to help us to believe, and he will.

23 And Jesus said to him, “‘If you can’! All things are possible for one who believes.”

Mark 4:23

If you are fatigued from dealing with an issue for years, there’s still hope. It’s not over ’till it’s over. If you aren’t sure you have enough faith, just take a moment and ask him to help your unbelief.
